Everyone piled into Heather's car. Zac and Jim wanted to go in Zac's truck so their moms could leave when they were ready, but Heather wanted them to ride with her. They pulled into the lane and were stopped by a security officer. They showed ID and he checked his list and let them pass. Zac directed Heather to park in his usual spot.
They walked into the barn that Jim and Zac had decorated. Everyone was already there except Jackson and Ryan. They came in behind Jim and Zac. "Zac, you've already met Ryan. Jim, this is my partner and soul mate."
"Nice to meet you Ryan. You have a terrific boyfriend," Jim said holding his hand out.
"I know it. He's the best, next to yours, of course," Ryan said taking Jim's hand.
"Yeah, I do have an awesome boyfriend. I'm not sure how I got so lucky," Jim stated, and Zac started to blush.
Jackson walked to the center of the barn. "I'm glad to see everyone is here. Hope you like the decorations. A round of applause for Zac and Jim, they did all of this. Every enjoy yourselves and get something to eat and drink. In an hour, we'll start passing out the presents."
Everyone mingled about for a bit. Since families were here, Jackson thought it was wise to keep the party alcohol-free. There were punch and chips on one table. Another table had barbecued beef. A third table included raw veggies with dip. Then there were tables set around if anyone wanted to sit and eat.
After an hour, Jackson asked for everyone's attention again. "I need a little elf to help me pass out presents," He looked at Josh's son, "Your name is Lucas, isn't it?"
"Yeah," Lucas said in a quick high tone. A smile was on his face. Lucas is a typical nine-year-old boy.
"Would you like to help me pass out the presents?" Jackson asked.
"Do I get one?" Lucas asked.
"I don't know if Santa left anything under there for you, but we'll see," Jackson said, knowing he bought presents for the families, too.
Lucas grabbed a present and brought it to Jackson. Jackson looked at the name and told him to whom he should give it. Lucas ran to the person, wished them a Merry Christmas and went back to the tree.
When Jackson told him that the present was his, Lucas was done helping. "Well, I guess I need another helper. Jim, would you mind?"
Jim grabbed the presents, but he only took them to Jackson if he didn't recognize the name. When all the presents were handed out, Zac and Jim still didn't have one under the tree. "Well, looks like all the presents are handed out." Jackson stated. Jim tried to keep a happy face, but he felt like he and Zac were slighted. "Wait a minute," Jackson stated, "You and Zac never got your present. Now where did I put them?"
Jackson started looking around like he was looking for them. "OH, yeah, I know where they are." He reached into his coat and pulled out two envelopes. One was red with Jim's name on it and the other was Green with Zac's. He handed them their envelope.
Opening the envelopes, Zac and Jim saw papers giving them full ownership of their horses. Jim looked at Jackson, "But I still owe you…" he started.
"No you don't. That's your Christmas gift. Your debt is paid in full." Jim hugged Jackson. "If this is the response I get, I may need to give you another horse." Jackson chuckled.
"Thanks, Jackson. I really love the gift," Zac said and threw his arms around him.
Jackson walked over to Heather and Marilyn. "I wasn't sure what to get you two. Jim tells me that you used to ride with your husband and hadn't been on a horse since he passed. And when we helped you move, I couldn't help but see all the western decorations, so I thought long and hard about your gift.
"Mrs. Schoen, Zac told me that you never take time for yourself. I thought a weekend at the spa would be nice for you."
"I have to admit; I have been a bit busy. Time at the spa will be nice," Marilyn stated.
"I love the bronco statue. It'll go great with my décor. Now, when I come ride, do I get to pick who I ride with?" Heather asked.
"I figured, you'd want to ride with Jim, but if you prefer someone else…" Jackson started.
"No, Jim, or you if he's not available, would be my choice," Heather said cutting him off.
"I'll make sure one of us is available when you decide to come ride."
Everyone continued having a good time. Slowly the guest left as they were getting tired. Jim walked over to his mom and hugged her. "What's that for?"
"Just because I never show you I love you enough," Jim said. "We going home soon? I'm getting tired and Zac and I work in the morning."
"Yea, I was about to ask if you were ready to head home. Let me get Zac and Marilyn," Heather responded.
Monday morning, Jim and Zac headed to the ranch. They were excited because yesterday, they were too busy to go riding. Today, they can put in a full eight hours and include some riding time. As they pulled in, they saw Jackson talking to a man who looked to be in his late thirties, maybe early forties. The man was wearing a business suit.
As they parked, the man headed for his car. "Who was that?" Zac asked.
"That was my insurance agent. After reading the reports about the fire, they already cut me a check for the damages. It won't cover all the cost of building the house, but then I didn't expect it to. I'm planning to put my house on the market to cover the rest."
"Well, I know a good realtor," Zac said smiling.
"Darn, I had already spoken to your mom about selling it," Jackson kidded. Zac just smiled.
"Looks like the construction crew isn't wasting any time, neither. Can't even tell that the office was there," Jim stated.
"Yeah, CJ made some calls. I swear, I don't know how he seems to have connections to get everything done. Guess when you have his kind of money, it's a lot easier."
"What kind of money does he have?" Jim asked.
"I'm not sure exactly, but his father left him and his siblings lots of money. Anyway, tomorrow is Christmas Eve, so if you want to spend it with your families, or need to, I totally understand. I won't be here either day. Josh already told me that he'll be here until noon tomorrow. If you plan to come in, let him know so he can plan."
"Thanks, Jackson. Not sure what our moms have planned, so we'll probably take the day off too," Zac said.
"That's what I told Josh, so I told him that unless you say otherwise, to not expect you," Jackson headed to his makeshift office in the barn.
Zac and Jim started to head toward the barn when a black Hummer pulled up. I tall man, very lean got out. "Excuse me, Son, can you direct me to Jackson Sprayberry?"
"Sure can, sir," Zac said.
"Please, don't call me sir. I was never an officer. Name is Staff Sargent Vincent Abrams, retired. You can call me Vince," The man said.
"You must be a friend of Sarge?" Jackson said coming back out of the office.
"Yes, sir. We've met a few times, had the same battalion commander," Vince said.
"So, what have you been told so far?" Jackson asked. Vince started telling him what he's heard from Sarge as they walked back toward the "office".
Jim and Zac finished their chores and went to get Silver and Gold. As they walked into the barn where they were kept, they noticed Jackson was still chatting with Vince. They were laughing and seemed to be enjoying the chat. They were almost to the barn door when Jackson called them over.
"What's up, Jackson?"" Zac asked.
"Well, Vince here, was Sarge's top recommendation and I've decided to cancel the other interviews. Vince and I have discussed what we expect from each other, and he will be in charge of security."
"Glad to have you aboard," Jim said.
"Thank you. So which one of you is Zac?" Vince asked.
"That would be me? You just wanting to get to know who's who or what?" Zac responded.
"Well, kinda, but also, Mr. Sprayberry says that you're kinda third in charge around here. You and Josh are the ones who have worked for him the longest, but since Josh is an adult, he's here more."
"Please, rule number one, if you work for me, it's Jackson."
"Yeah, and Josh is a good guy. Even if Jackson told him specifically to have me do something, he usually asks. And he's been around horses longer."
"Yes, but he doesn't have the same passion about the horses as you do." Jackson said. "While he knows about riding, you can tell he's doing it more as a job. You do it because you enjoy it."
"And since I got a riding companion, it's even more enjoyable," Zac said staring at Jim.
"Yes, well, when you two are no longer in school, I have plans for you. That is, if the two of you agree to what I have planned."
"We trust you, Jackson, so we'll probably agree," Jim said. Jackson smiled.
"Well, I bet the two of you want to get to your riding, and I need to head home, take care of business there and make plans for my move."
"You have any family coming with you?" Jim asked.
"No, I never married. I thought military life would be too hard on them."
With that, the boys took their horses to the cross ties to prepare for their ride and Vince shook hands with Jackson, then headed for his Hummer.
The boys rode out by the lake just taking a casual ride and talking. It was nearing three in the afternoon when the boys had finished their ride and got the horses put away. They climbed into Zac's truck and headed home.
Jim walked into his house and saw a sandy haired boy sitting on the couch. Not sure what to think because his mom should have still been at work, yet this kid was obviously not there to do any harm, Jim spoke and startled the kid. "Can I help…?" Jim started and then stopped when the boy turned quickly. Someone had obvious hit the boy a few times. He had a black eye and his nose had been bleeding. He also had a busted lip.
Jim heard his mom call out from the kitchen, "Jim, can you come here please? And if Zac is with you, have him come, too."
Zac had just stepped in the door when he heard Heather call out. They headed for the kitchen and saw her making an icepack. "Who's the boy?" Jim asked.
"His name is Joe. I really don't know much about him, but his father found out he was gay, hit him a few times and threw him out of the house," Heather explained.
"So, what's he doing here? Not that I mind, just curious," Jim inquired.
"I had signed up to be a foster parent when we first moved to Wyoming. I was hoping at the time that having someone else in the house would help you, but then when you met Zac, I never removed my name from the list. They called me at work and said that they needed someone in an emergency and I was the first available person on the list. Joe may be with us for a while."
"That's cool, if we can help the kid out, I'm all for it. So, what about his father?"
"He's being charged with assault, child endangering, and abuse. Joe was an only child, so there are no other children to worry about. Children's Services will be here later to drop some things off for him and see how he's doing," Heather said as she finished making the icepack. She started to take it to Joe.
"Let me take it to him," Jim requested. Heather handed him the icepack.
Jim walked out to see Joe. "Hey Joe, my name is Jim. Come with me and I'll show you where you can sleep. And you'll have your own bathroom, too, so you can clean up," Jim said handing over the icepack.
Joe took the icepack and stood up. When he stood, Jim immediately noticed that one leg was slightly shorter than the other. He also noticed that Joe was almost same height as him. Joe didn't say anything but stared with emerald green eyes as Jim tried being friendly.
Jim led the way, followed by Joe and Zac took the rear position. Jim took him to the guest bedroom. "This will be your room. Choose whichever bed you want and I'm sure Mom won't mind if I put the other bed in the basement so you have more room. Bathroom is over here," Jim opened the door to the bathroom.
Joe went in and Jim grabbed some clean towels and washcloths. "By the way, my name is Zac. I live across the street, but I'm Jim's boyfriend, so you'll probably see a lot of me," Zac finally introduced himself.
"You're his boyfriend?" Joe spoke for the first time. His voice was soft, almost angelic.
"Yeah, I am," Zac said smiling.
"So, what say we take some time to get to know each other? We already know about your dad. Too bad you didn't have a dad like mine," Jim said.
"Will he be home anytime?" Joe inquired."
Jim looked down and had to stifle a tear, "No, he was killed almost a year ago. This will be my first Christmas without him."
"I'm sorry, I didn't know," Joe apologized.
"No way could you have known without someone telling you," Zac offered.
"It's alright, he lives in my heart and my memories," Jim said. "He was the greatest dad ever. When I came out to him and mom, they both told me that they will love me no matter what, and hugged me."
"My dad found my secret stash and discovered I was gay. Then he did this," Joe said pointing at his face.
"Well, hopefully, he learns to accept you. If not, it's his loss," Zac said.
"What about your dad? Did he accept you?" Joe asked hoping he wasn't sticking his foot in his mouth again.
"My dad doesn't know. He left when I was thirteen and I haven't seen or heard from the bastard since. But our moms love both of us," Zac said.
"So, do you like horses?" Jim said. Joe didn't have to answer as his face lit up as soon as Jim asked. "Zac and I work at a ranch. We each have a horse but there are plenty of horses there. Maybe we can take you riding."
"I would love that. I haven't been since my uncle passed away. He had a small farm and a couple horses over in Ranchester." Joe said.
"I'll be right back," Jim said and almost ran Zac over getting out of the bathroom.
He ran downstairs and found his mom on the phone. When she hung up, he looked at his mom. "Is Joe going to be with us for Christmas? I need to get him some presents, if he is."
"Yes, I was just talking to the social worker. She's hoping that we're willing to let him stay for as long as necessary. I told her that if he's still here when he graduates, we won't mind," Jim's face lit up. He never really thought about having a brother, but having Joe there felt so right.
Next, Jim stopped at his room. He didn't see any clothes with Joe. He knew his mom said a social worker would be dropping off some things, but what if Joe wanted to shower and get out of his bloodied clothes. Jim grabbed a pair of black sweats and a red athletic shirt. He also grabbed a pair of boxers and headed back to Joe's room.
"Where'd you go in such a hurry?" Zac asked.
"I'll tell you in the truck. Joe, thought you might like a shower and change of clothes. You look about my size so I grabbed some of mine. If you want, you are welcome to keep them. Is there anything that you would really like?" Jim asked.
"You mean besides a father who accepts me?" Joe said.
"Yeah, Santa can't perform miracles like that," Jim said trying to lift Joe's spirits.
"Well, I never really thought about it, but I've never had a western shirt or a pair of cowboy boots," Joe said.
"Well, take a shower and take as long as you like. Zac and I will see what we can do."
Zac and Jim started heading out. Jim told his mom that Joe was taking a shower and he'd be back shortly. As they drove to Jake's store, Jim told Zac that Joe might be there for a long time. Didn't take long before Zac pulled into the lot.
Jim found Jake sweeping the floor. "Jake, I need a western shirt. I would like it to be as close to emerald green as you can."
"I have exactly what you need in your size, too," Jake said.
"Well, it's not for me, but the kid is my size," Jim said.
"You have a new boyfriend?" Jake asked as Zac came in the door.
"Nope, he's stuck with me, but he has a new foster brother," Zac said.
"OH!!! I take it that this is a Christmas present?" Jake said.
"Yeah, and we need two pairs of identical boots, size ten," Jim said.
"Two pair, eh? Identical?" Jake inquired.
"Yeah, I want to take one of the left ones to Mr. Cobblestone and see if he can make it special. Joe, my foster brother, has a shorter left leg."
"Well, I only have one size ten left until my shipment comes in after the first of the year. But my display model is a left boot and it happens to be size ten. I don't know what happened to the right one. I'll throw it in as my Christmas gift and I'll call Mr. Cobblestone and ask him to put a rush on it when you get there."
"You're great, Jake," Jim said.
Zack and Jim paid for their purchase and headed over to the shoe repair shop. When they got there, Mr. Cobblestone was waiting. "I understand this is a rush order?" he said when the boys walked in.
"If possible, we'd like to give it as a Christmas present. If not, then, we can give the pair for Christmas and just give the other boot when you are done," Jim said.
"You're looking at about a hundred dollars for the necessary alteration," Mr. Cobblestone said.
"With the look I think we'll get, it'll be worth it," Zac said.
"Come back in about an hour, I'll have it done, or be close," Mr. Cobblestone said.
Jim and Zac went to the mall. They wanted to pick up a few other things that they thought Joe might like. Mainly, they walked around killing time for an hour. They wanted to get their presents wrapped, but also wanted to wait for the third boot so it could be in the box with the other two.
After an hour, they went back to Mr. Cobblestone's shop. He had put the closed sign in the window and they thought they were too late. Zac jumped when Mr. Cobblestone opened the door. "Come in, boys. I think you'll like the alteration."
Jim looked at the boot and it looked like it was made that way. Jim pulled out his wallet to pay for the repair but Mr. Cobblestone looked at him and just said, "Merry Christmas."
"You serious?" Jim asked.
"Whoever you're doing this for must be pretty special for you to be willing to spend so much on him. I just want to hear if you get the reaction that you expect."
"Thank you so much, Mr. Cobblestone. We'll be sure to let you know," Zac offered.
Once they had the third boot, they went to have all their presents wrapped.
Zac and Jim got back to Jim's house and were placing the presents under the tree. Jim's mom came out of the kitchen. "Snooping, trying to figure out what you're getting?" she asked surprising Zac and Jim. They jumped and Heather chuckled.
"We're putting Joe's presents under the tree," Jim stated, "Besides, you know I hate knowing what I get before Christmas morning."
"True, but I was just teasing you. You're the only kid I know who never wanted to open presents before Christmas. Even at three, when we tried to get you to open a present on Christmas Eve, you refused and wanted to wait until Christmas."
"Kid? Mom, I don't think I qualify as a kid anymore," Jim reminded her.
"Even when you're fifty-five and I'm eighty-one, you'll still be my baby and my kid," Heather stated defending herself, "But, no you are definitely not a kid or little boy anymore. You are growing into a fine young man." Jim smiled.
"Come on, Kid, we need to finish putting these presents under the tree," Zac kidded.
"When you're done, your suppers are on the table. Joe and I already ate. Got him to open up a little. Did you know that when his dad hit him, his mom asked if he wanted one of her dresses? I don't understand parents like that."
"That's because you are such a great mom. I can never tell you that I love you enough," Jim said as he placed the last present under the tree. He went over and hugged his mom.
"You tell me that you love me all the time, maybe not in words, but in your actions, too. I couldn't ask for a better son," Heather stated. Jim blushed.
Zac and Jim went to the kitchen to eat their supper. As they were eating, Joe came down. "Why are you guys so friendly to me? You don't even know me."
"Well, I believe in being friendly to everyone unless they give me a reason not to," Jim said as he took a bite of his potato.
"I have to agree with Jim. Besides, right now, you seem like you need a friend, someone who will just listen to what you feel you need to say," Zac added.
"Well, I'm glad that they asked your mom to take me under her roof. Did you know that they asked if I could stay for an extended period?" Joe asked.
"I was there when Mom was on the phone. She told them that you're welcome to stay until you graduate, or longer if need be," Jim responded.
Joe had a tear running down his face, "I'd like that. You guys actually make me feel like I belong. I haven't felt that in a very long time."
"You do belong, Joe. I can't relate to what you've been through, but I can tell you this, as long as you live here, you will be treated like one of the family. Even should you leave, you're welcome to come visit because, now, you are one of the family," Jim stated. Joe broke down and started crying and Zac moved to the chair beside him and held him.
"Wait until you meet Jackson, I think you'll love him, too," Jim said.
Joe looked up from Zac's shoulder. "Is he a horse?" Jim and Zac started laughing.
"No, he owns the ranch that we work at. Best boss in the world if you ask me, but then, he's the only boss I've ever had," Jim said smiling.
"Yeah, and if you're interested, we might be able to get you working there," Zac added,
"Would I get my own horse?" Joe asked.
"They cost money, but we might be able to see if Jackson will work out a deal for you like he did us. If not, there are plenty of horses that you'll still be able to ride," Zac replied.
Joe smiled. He really liked the thought of riding horses again. It's the one time when no one really noticed his leg, and he was as good as most anybody.
"You don't have to answer if you don't want to, but aside from smacking you around, what's your dad like?" Jim asked.
"Well, he was an all-star quarterback in high school and got a full ride to college. He was in his last semester and pro scouts were watching the game. I'm told that they came just to look at him because he was that good."
"What happened?" Zac asked.
"Dad was on the sideline talking to the coach. A running back on the opposing team came running at him between plays. Broke Dad's leg in three places and he was done. That cost them the game by six points. Dad lost his scholarship and had to drop out. Since then, he was always good with his hands so he started a carpenter business. He always seemed to be working, but we were just barely scraping by. I considered myself lucky if I got a pair of shoes beginning of each school year. My clothes where bought at the thrift store," Joe started looking down.
"You don't need to say anymore, but any idea what happened to the running back?" Jim said as he picked up the plates. Joe shrugged his shoulders. "Zac and I are going to do dishes. If you want, you can help, or come in to chat and get to know us better. If you have any questions, feel free to ask."
"Yeah, but if you start getting too personal, we'll politely let you know," Zac added.
"So do both of the puppies live here, or is one Zac's?" Joe asked.
"They're both mine. The black one is Kunoichi and the yellow one is Colby. You're welcome to help take care of them, if you like, but they are my responsibility, so don't feel like you have to."
"How old are they?" Joe asked.
"I got them two months ago and they were six weeks old at the time."
"Hope you don't mind, but I gave them some of my steak while your mom and I were eating," Joe confessed.
"Not the first time they've had food from the table, just remember, they are puppies, so be careful what you give them," Jim advised.
"I didn't give them any of the fat, I was afraid it would give them the runs, and I cut the meat small. I think your mom caught me because she was smiling, but she didn't say anything."
"If you want one to sleep with you, I'm sure they would. Just be warned, if they wake you up whining, they want to go outside. If you don't take them, they will do their business on the bed. We have them pretty much housebroken, but they are still puppies with small bladders," Jim warned.
"I can attest to that," Zac said.
"Can I sleep with the yellow one? He keeps untying my shoes," Joe said with a chuckle.
"Yeah, Colby likes doing that. When I wear my boots, he'll look all around trying to find the laces," Jim responded.
Joe chatted and asked what Zac and Jim wanted for Christmas. "You don't need to get us anything. Besides, no offense, but do you have any money?" Jim asked.
"No, but I was just curious. I know you guys went and got me something, so I was hoping maybe I could figure a way to get something for you. Not sure how, yet, but I'd at least try."
"Just be our friend, that's all we really want," Zac said.
"But, you're already getting that, and you're being my friend as well as giving me gifts," Joe countered.
"If you figure out a way to get us something, find something that makes you think of us. Whatever you get, I'm sure we'll like," Zac stated.
"And if you don't get us anything, either we'll understand or we'll tickle you," Jim said with a grin.
"I vote we tickle him now," Zac smiled.
The boys finished the dishes and took the puppies outside. "Ewww, I think Kunoitchy is pooping," Joe said.
"That was close but her name is Kunoichi. K-u-n-o-i-c-h-i and the i's sound like e's," Jim said as he picked up the pooper scooper and plastic bag.
After the puppies were done with their business, they went to the door to be let back in. When the door was open, they ran to their water and started lapping it up. Heather called out, "Boys, I'm going to bed. I have a meeting with the social worker. Joe, you need to come with me, so don't stay up too much longer."
"They're not taking me away, are they?" Joe asked with a slight quiver to his voice.
"No, I need to sign some papers that will give me legal guardianship over you. They just want you there to see what you think of the idea. They'll also be giving me a check to help with expenses, but I think I'll let you keep the first one so you have some money," Heather explained. Joe smiled, he would have money to buy presents and he actually felt like someone really cared about him for once.
Joe said goodnight and hugged Jim and Zac. He called Colby and they went to his room. Zac and Jim went to Jim's room with Kunoichi. As they climbed into bed, she jumped up and laid in the middle. Jim and Zac gave her a smooch and she took turns licking their faces. They laughed.
In the morning, Zac was the first one up. He slipped on his boxers and headed for the door. Kunoichi followed him. "You want to go outside?" Zac asked. When the door was opened, she ran to the backdoor. Zac hurried to let her out.
Feeling the emptiness of the bed, Jim got up and slipped on a pair of shorts. He went to the kitchen and saw Zac standing at the back door. "Dude, you may want to put on a pair of shorts or something before my mom gets up. I don't mind it, but she might get embarrassed by that beautiful thing sticking out of your boxers," Jim said licking his lips.
Zac looked down and saw his cock sticking out. If anyone but Jim had been there, he might have been embarrassed, himself. "Kunoichi is outside. I'm going to grab something to put on," By now, half Zac's clothes were in Jim's closet and dresser anyway and Jim had half of his clothes in Zac's room.
Jim started fixing breakfast while watching for Kunoichi to be ready to come in. Zac ran upstairs hoping no one caught him. Joe was coming out of his room just as Zac opened Jim's bedroom door. "Morning, Zac. I think Colby needs to go outside. He woke me up whining at the door."
"He probably heard us up, but he usually does go outside about this time. Jim's downstairs waiting for Kuno to come in. He might be fixing breakfast, too. Hope you're hungry." Joe's stomach took that time to grumble. Joe and Zac laughed.
Joe took Colby to the back door and when he opened it, Kunoichi started to head for it. When she saw Colby coming out, she decided it was time to play. Joe laughed at the two of them. "If you keep an eye on them, I can concentrate more on breakfast. Hope you like bacon, eggs, hash browns, and juice, or milk. Or, there will be fresh coffee if you prefer."
"Can I have juice and milk?" Joe asked.
"If that is what you want, sure. I may do the same for once," Jim said smiling.
Zac came downstairs wearing a pair of navy colored shorts. Jim was just putting the food on the table and Joe was letting the pups in. They heard Heather coming downstairs. As they ate breakfast, she started to talk, "Joe and I will be at the social worker's about nine, and then I plan to take him shopping to get whatever he may still need. We should be home by noon. What are your plans?"
"Well, I guess I'll be with you," Joe said with a grin.
"He's definitely going to fit in here, nicely," Jim stated
"Jim and I are going to take the pups to the park for a couple hours. I figure we'll be back around eleven. When we get back, we'll prepare a lunch then maybe the four, or five if my mom wants to go, can go out to the ranch and show Joe our horses. Possibly do some riding," Zac suggested.
"I don't know about the riding. Weatherman says it will start snowing again around one," Heather said, "He's calling for another eight to ten inches before six.
"In that case, maybe we should wait to go to the ranch and just fix hot cocoa and stay in," Jim suggested.
"By the way, my mom wants to know if you're still coming over tonight. We'll be opening one present each if you are. Then we'll bring over the rest of the presents tomorrow morning."
"Nope, I'm not going, then. I want to wait until tomorrow to open mine," Jim said.
"Well, you can open one present tonight and the rest tomorrow," Heather insisted.
"Mom," Jim almost whined. Everyone laughed. "Fine, but the present I want to open is Zac."
"Ewww, you want to cut him open?" Joe said being just a little naive.
"Never mind, and no, you're not opening that present," Heather stated giving Jim a stern look. Zac just smiled and winked at Jim.
Heather and Joe headed for the car. Zac grabbed Jim and kissed him. "Before we take the pups to the park, you want to open that present now?" Zac asked with a smirk on his face.
"Yeah, that way, if I don't like it, I can exchange it for something else before Christmas," Jim teased.
They went to Jim's room and removed their shorts. Zac grabbed Jim and held him close. Their lips came together and Zac dominated Jim's mouth with his tongue. As they kissed, Zac moved closer and closer to the bed. When he felt Jim start to fall on it, he let him go. Zac grabbed the lube and slicked his cock thoroughly.
Jim was laying on the bed and Zac lifted his legs onto his shoulders. Zac moved closer and his cock started teasing Jim's ass. Zac leaned towards Jim and his cock slipped into the wanton orifice like it belong. Jim moaned. Zac leaned down and started kissing Jim. His cock was now all the way in. As they kissed, Zac started pulling out slowly then he would thrust back in as quickly as he could. Zac made love to Jim for a long time before he was done. Then they got dressed and went to the park so the pups could play.
Heather was in a room signing papers accepting full responsibility for Joe. She discussed the thought of adoption, but the case worker told her at this time, Joe was not available for adoption. If she seriously wanted to adopt Joe, though, they didn't see his parents causing any problem.
Joe was in another room with another social worker. She handed him a can of Coke and asked if he wanted anything to eat. "No, thank you. We had a big breakfast." Joe responded patting his full belly. Then he looked at the social worker, "You're not planning on pulling me away from this family, are you?"
"Not unless we deem there is a reason for it. I take it you liked your night there?"
"It was the first time I felt like I belong somewhere. Jim even went out to get me presents for tomorrow. He didn't want me to feel left out," Joe explained.
"Jim is Mrs. Bolt's son, isn't he? Sounds like he's a really nice guy. Have you let him know that you're gay?"
"He knows. So does his boyfriend. Jim also told me that now I am a part of the family regardless of whatever happens."
"Well, I hope everything continues that way. Unless something happens otherwise, you can expect to spend the rest of your teenage years there." Joe smiled. "We're also getting you enrolled in school here. From the reports I read, you're the same age as Jim, so you may share some classes."
"I'd like that." Joe said taking a sip of his Coke.
"We'll see what we can do. Once we get you enrolled, we'll bring you your schedule. I must say, you seem in a better mood than last time I talked with you."
Joe smiled. "Like I said, first time I felt like I belonged. And Jim thought I'd like clean clothes, so he gave me some of his. He also has two puppies. He told me that they are his responsibility, but I can play with them any time I want."
"You really think highly of him, don't you?"
"Oh yes. He's the best brother I could possibly have," Joe sounded excited.
"OK, I think I've talked to you enough to know you're where you should be. Let's see if Mrs. Bolt is done so she can take you home." Joe was happy to hear those words.
As they walked in, Joe heard them talking. "That finishes it. And if you're serious about adopting Joe, we'll see what we can do." He overheard his case worker saying. Joe started to cry.
"What's wrong?" the social worker with him asked.
"Nothing, I'm just so happy knowing that I am wanted," Joe said.
"Well, the Bolt family do seem to care about you. I'm glad that we contacted them first. Would you like another soda to take home?"
"No thank you. Mrs. Bolt said that she was taking me shopping to get anything I may need," Joe said smiling.
Just then, Heather walked up. "Are you alright, Joe? You look like you've been crying."
"I was, but it was happy tears. I was told that I will get to stay at your house," Joe responded.
"Our house, I want you to think of it as your place too. It's your home now," Heather explained. Joe hugged her tight.
"Would it upset Jim if I started calling you Mom? If I may. You may not officially be my mom, but I feel like you've already been more of a parent than either one of my real parents."
"We'll talk about it, but I don't think he'll mind," Heather replied with a tear ready to fall from her eye. She could really feel the pain Joe must have gone through. She grabbed Joe around the shoulders and hugged him.
They got into Heather's car and she looked at him, "We need to go to the bank for me to cash this." She said handing him the check she was given. "It's not as big as I thought it would be, but they only gave me for this last week of December. I'll get another check next month."
"And you said this one is mine? I hope it's enough to get Jim, Zac and you something for Christmas. I think it should be."
"You don't have to get me anything, and if you're short getting what you want for Jim and Zac, I'll help you," Heather said with a huge smile.
After they cashed the check, she handed Joe the money. He put it in his pocket and Heather asked where he wanted to go first. "Do you know if they have spurs? I don't know why but I think that spurs would go good for when they ride their horses."
"I don't really know about Zac, but I don't think either of them have any. Is that what you want to get them?" Heather asked. Joe gave a quick nod. "Then, let's go see Jake at the Tack Shop."
She drove to the store and Joe started opening his door before she was stopped. "Joseph Charles Walker, you wait until I'm stopped before you open that door," Heather said sternly.
Joe was kind of surprised by her using his full name. He didn't even know that she knew it. "I'm sorry, I'm just excited about getting something for my family, my new family," Joe said. Heather could hear that familiar quiver in his voice.
"I understand, Joe, but I don't want you getting hurt. So, please wait until I turn off the engine before you open the car door in the future," Heather said in a calmer voice.
"I will, and thank you," Joe said with a smile returning to his face.
"For chewing you out?" Heather was a little surprised.
"Yeah, my mom or dad never said a thing when I did that with them. While I don't like being chewed out, it tells me that you care," Joe explained. Heather mussed his hair up.
Joe fixed his hair best that he could without having a comb or brush on him, then he followed Heather into the store. "Hey, Heather. Who's this guy following you?"
"He's my son. Technically, he's my foster son, but he's my son as far as I'm concerned," Heather responded. Joe's smile got bigger, if that were possible.
"So, you're the one Jim was in here telling me about. He was so excited talking about you," Jake said.
"Jim was in here?" Joe asked, smiling so much his face was starting to hurt.
"Maybe I said too much. So, what can I do for you?" Jake said hoping he didn't give too much information about what Jim got for Joe's present.
"Do you know if Zac or Jim have any spurs? Joe wants to get them spurs for Christmas," Heather asked.
"As a matter of fact, they don't. I have a few different choices. If they want to wear them while riding, I recommend this pair," Jake said showing a pair of spurs to Joe.
"Do you have two sets of them? I think they'd like a matching pair," Joe asked.
"I sure do, and I happen to have the leather straps that'll match their saddles. Would you like them, also?" Jake responded.
"Yes please," Joe smiled.
"Anything else for you?" Jake asked.
Joe was looking at some cowboy boots. He wanted a pair but knew he wouldn't have enough after buying the spurs. Jake smiled knowing Joe would be happy with Jim and Zac's present. "No, I think that's all I can get for now. I may be back in to see about boots another day." Joe said. He paid for his purchase and still had money left over that he could get Heather something.
They got in the car and Heather looked at Joe. "Anywhere else you want to go?"
"I still want to get you something, but I don't know what," Joe explained.
"Honey, seeing you this happy is all I really want. You reminded me of Jim when we first moved to Wyoming a little. Seeing you happy makes me happy."
"I know, and I'm glad, but I feel like that's more of a present to me, not from me."
Heather hugged Joe. "Well, let's go get you some clothes. When the social worker went to your house to get yours, they were displeased with what was there, so they gave me a two hundred gift certificate to get you some new ones. To be honest, I think they all chipped in to get this. To my knowledge, I don't think the state normally does this. And if you see something that you want to get for me, I'll understand if you sneak off to get it."
"I so wish you were my mother from birth. No wonder Jim is so cool," Joe said. Heather teared up and hugged Joe.
"Well, we can't change the past, but let's work on a brighter future for you," Heather said.
After they were done shopping, Heather filled her trunk with all the purchases. They got back to the house just before noon. Jim and Zac were preparing lunch in the kitchen.
"Do I smell spaghetti?" Joe asked.
"Hope you like it. We're using deer meat instead of beef," Zac said.
"You want help getting all your stuff to your room?" Heather asked.
"I'll help. We have a little time before lunch is ready and Zac's stirring the pasta," Jim offered.
Jim, Joe and Mrs. Bolt carried packages to Joe's room. "Want help putting it away?" Jim asked.
"You're just trying to see what I got for you, aren't you?" Joe asked.
"Well, if you have something for me, then I won't help. I want to be surprised tomorrow," Jim stated as he left the room.
"He really doesn't like opening present before Christmas, does he," Joe smiled.
"No, he doesn't. I'll leave you to put things where you want them. You don't have to do it all at once. I'll call you when lunch is ready."
"Thanks, Mom." Joe said without even thinking.
"You're welcome, Son." Heather said with a slight tear. Joe smiled.
