Three Finger Cove: The Twins ~ Book Four

Chapter Twelve

After using the bathroom, the four foster lads headed to their own bedrooms. They said 'Good Night' to one another and then walked into their own room and shut the door. Chief followed the twins into their bedroom.

"Kev … are you sure you're going to be OK with us being in different classrooms?" asked Kyle.

"Well … to tell you the truth … no, not really," replied Kevin.

"Why?" asked Kyle.

"I don't know. It's just that … we've always been in the same classroom together and it will be really different … if I'm not with you," honestly replied Kevin.

Kyle thought for a few moments and then said, "Well, I'm not. It will be different with you not being in the same room as me, but, honestly, I am looking forward to it. I'll bet the teachers talk about the same subjects differently and when we study together we can help one another clarify those differences. I even bet it will help us get even better grades."

"I sure hope so. … Hey, what do you think about Doctor Doug?" asked Kevin.

"I think he's OK. We did talk to him some at the picnic and he seemed nice. We didn't know at the time he was going to be the same doctor 'Dad Ken' wanted us to talk to about the accident, and other things that we might want to talk about," answered Kyle.

Kevin looked over to this twin and asked, "Ky … do you have any, you know, any other things … you might want to talk to Doctor Doug about?"

"NO, not really, other than your snoring at night," teased Kyle. "Hey … what about you? Do you have some secret that you haven't told me about?" asked Kyle, while using a sinister voice.

"I don't snore … well, sometimes I think I do, but how would I know? I'm asleep. And NO I don't have any secrets," replied a reluctant Kevin.

"Well, believe me, you snore … and sometimes it does wake me up. Let's get to sleep. We have to wake up at 6 AM and get our showers and then have breakfast. Then, we have to catch the bus with Robert and Charles. Good night, Kev," answered Kyle.

"Good night, Ky," offered Kevin.

Kevin didn't sleep all that well that night. His dream that night centered on his twin's question wondering if he had a secret he hadn't told him about. Kevin's dream that night focused on him looking back on what he and his dad did together at times. He didn't think what they did together was wrong, because it was 'fun' and he was getting to do it with his dad. But his dad did ask him not to tell anyone, including his twin. His dad said that if Kyle found out he'd want to come along and he wouldn't earn as much money.

Kevin's dream then looked back at what Robert told him and his twin. In his sleep, Kevin heard Robert tell them that he was taken by some strange men and made to do sex stuff with them. In Kevin's subconscious, the eleven year old heard Robert telling him and his twin that it was his dad who got him into doing the sex things with the men and that he would have to go out with them many nights during the week and that he often would be gone all weekend.

Kevin's involuntary vision also recalled how Robert told them he would come back with money and gifts the men gave him when he was dropped off at his home. Then, in his sleeping dream movie, he heard his older 'brother' telling them that it started out very simple with just touching and then then moving on to not wearing any clothes to bed and eventually to him being touched all over by the men. The dream also followed along as Robert told how he eventually had to suck the men's manhood and then ultimately being raped by the men.

When Kevin's sleeping mind finished playing the vision it derived from Robert's tale, it began to play back the things he and his dad had done together. Kevin smiled as his dream showed how he and his twin began taking weekend showers with their dad and how he showed them how to make themselves feel real good through their wieners. The lad also reviewed how they also helped out their dad get those same feelings and shoot out this stuff he called 'joy juice'.

Kevin continued to smile in his dream about how much he liked touching his dad big manhood he initially called a penis but later called it a cock. Kevin's mind then replayed how his dad showed him something very special one day that he eventually taught his twin – sucking. Kevin continued to smile in his dream because he really loved to do what he did with his dad. He felt really special when only the two of them started to go off without Kyle to do it with one another.

But lately, Kevin's dad had other men, and their 'boys' come along with them to enjoy their play time. At first Kevin felt it was awkward being there with all those naked men and boys, but after he got to know them he began doing the same thing to them as they to him. He even liked that he got money from the men before he left. The money, though, he knew he had to keep hidden from Kyle and his mom, because his dad told them they would never understand. It was that realization that what he was doing with his dad was very similar to what Robert explained to them that caused Kevin to suddenly wake up.

When Kevin abruptly woke up due to what was in his dream he was sweating profusely. He felt his heart beating faster than ever. He also began to wonder if what he and his dad were doing was right, and if it was something identical to what Robert had to do for his dad. The twin looked over to his brother to see if he had awakened and was glad he hadn't. He didn't want to have a discussion about why he was sweating so bad right then. The lad decided, since he was up, to go to the bathroom and then go back to bed.

Kevin was glad he went to pee. The cool air in the house helped him to settle down and it felt good against his damp skin. When the twin got back into his bed he was still thinking about what Robert had told them earlier and what he and his dad were doing together with those other men. Kevin did fall asleep, but it was a fitful one that didn't give him much rest for the balance of the night.

Usually, Mr. Ken was 'up and at 'em' by 8:15 every morning, but since his foster sons had to catch their bus around 7 AM he made himself get up much earlier. It was now 5:45 AM and Ken Thomas was wiping the 'sand-man's grit out of his eyes before heading to his bathroom to relieve the pressure on his bladder. When he finished relieving his bladder, he brushed his teeth, put on what he calls his sleeping shorts and shirt (although he didn't actually sleep in them), slipped into his Crocs and then headed out to retrieve his morning newspaper.

When the owner of The Cove sat down with his morning newspaper to enjoy his first cup of coffee he truly wondered to himself, is having all these foster kids worth the loss of his 'beauty' sleep. He thought about that for a full two seconds and then laughed to himself and said out loud, "Yes!" The man then took a sip of his coffee and began reading his paper.

Upstairs the four Cover lads were stirring. Robert met Charles out in the hallway, but he didn't see the twins. The teen told his 'brother' to start getting cleaned up while he checked on the twins. Robert did the Three-Knock Rule on the twin's bedroom, but only Chief greeted him at the door. With the door now open, the teenager went in and began waking his two new 'brother's

"Guys … it is time to get up for school," called out Robert. 'Come on; get up!" called out the older Cover 'brother'.

"No! Let me sleep!" yelled Kyle, from under the covers.

Robert went over to Kevin's bed and began to lightly shake the older twin. After a few tries Kevin opened his eyes and asked if it was time to get up for school. Hearing it was time to get up for school, the twin pulled the covers off his body. As soon as he did that Robert immediately saw the lad desperately needed to drain his bladder. Kevin quickly jumped out of his bed and ran out of the room and headed to the bathroom.

The Cover teen then went over to Kyle's bed and pulled the covers off of him knowing the lad was awake, but just not wanting to get out of bed. "Come on, Kyle … you have to get up and ready for your first day of school," teased Robert.

"Yeah, I know, but it sure felt good sleeping," replied Kyle, as he got out of bed and walked out of the room.

Robert followed Kyle into the bathroom and joined him at the porcelain gods to relieve the pressure on their bladders. Charles was already in the shower and Kevin was brushing his teeth. Soon the teen and the eleven year old walked over to the sinks and began brushing their teeth. When they finished, the Cover teen and the twins walked into the shower room to get cleaned up for the day.

Down in the Kitchen Nook, Momma Maria was getting breakfast ready for the four lads. Mr. Ken was now reading the Sports pages and still enjoying his morning coffee. He had told Momma Maria he would eat with the boys when they all got there. It was close to 6:30 when the boys entered the Kitchen Nook. Robert and Charles immediately went to their 'dad for a morning hug. The twins were still not too sure how they should act, but when 'Dad Ken' opened his arms to the twins, they both ran to the man for a hug. Quickly, the boys then found their seat at the table.

"Goods mornings boys," called out Momma Maria.

The four lads replied in unison, "Good morning Momma Maria."

Momma Maria brought over four plates of bacon and scrambled eggs along with biscuits, instead of toast, and placed one in front of every Cover lad. She then pointed out the butter and jelly were already at the middle of the table for the lads to use if they wanted. Mr. Ken, not getting a plate of food placed in front of him, showed a look of surprise when he didn't get his breakfast. Then, his face changed into a great big smile when Momma placed his much more filled plate of bacon and eggs in front of him.

"Thank you, Momma! This looks awesome," offered Mr. Ken.

"'Dad Ken' … can you eat all of that?" asked Kyle.

It was Charles who responded saying, "You just watch! When 'dad' is hungry he can eat a horse." That made all four lads burst out laughing.

"If you're not careful, my 'son', you might be the next horse I eat," teased 'dad' Ken.

The Covers finished breakfast without any more teasing. The twins were reminded to catch the bus with their older 'brothers' and to make sure they wash their face and hands before heading up to the Bus Stop. By 7 AM, the four Cover lads were headed up to the Bus Stop located just past the Main Gate on the right.

Ken Thomas had planned to head over to the construction projects over by the lake so when he finished breakfast he headed to his en suite to get himself ready for the day. When he came back out to the Kitchen Nook, Chris was already there for the day.

"Morning, Mr. Ken," offered Chris.

"Morning, Chris, I want to remind you we will need the preliminary reports of what you found when you checked the books after taking over for Mildred. Stewart Russell will be over Thursday and Friday night to start preparing Robert and me for our trial next Wednesday. Come Saturday, Bill will also be here with Stew so we will definitely need the final reports of how bad she skimmed the books," Mr. Ken reminded his Estate Manager.

"Ken, I already have them finished. I will take time today to review them to make sure I didn't miss anything, and I will have an original and five copies for you Thursday before I leave for the day," replied Chris Dominions.

"Thanks, Chris, I knew there was a good reason for hiring you," chuckled Ken.

"Oh, I will be over at the office and hotel construction site most of the morning, Chris," spoke up Ken.

"Boy, it sure is different without Dan here now," said Chris.

"Yeah, the boys were missing the man as well. He did add a lot to the place while he was here. I am sure going to miss him," lamented Mr. Ken.

"Ken … are you still interested in hiring someone to supervise the boys when you aren't here?" asked Chris, bringing up the conversation the two men had concerning what Mr. Ken would do if he had to go away due to his business operations.

"Yes, Chris, I DO need to hire someone … but how do you advertise for that sort of position? I want the boys and the person I hire to get along and the boys ONLY want a man. It worked out great when Dan came to stay here to recuperate from his injury, but he has gone back to work and is now living at his apartment again. Even if he had remained here, I'd still need someone because he has rotating shifts. We'll have to sit down and discuss this at length, and soon. Well, I am going to head out, now. Later!" explained Mr. Ken, to his estate Manager as he headed off to the construction site.

At school that morning, the twins were greeted like they had just come back from a long summer vacation. Sam and Terran, along with Dominic and Wyatt, were waiting for them when the twins got off the bus. The six lads then went off to their own corner of the schoolyard.

When the small group arrived where they usually hung out before school began, the rest of Sam's and Terran's friends were already there.

"Hey, guys this here is Kevin and his twin brother, Kyle," announced Sam.

"Kevin, Kyle, this is Isaac, Nathan, Landon, Andrew, Grant, Blake, and Eli," indicated Sam as he tapped each one on their shoulder as he announced their name.

"So, why'd you miss last week?" asked Isaac.

Kyle looked to Kevin, wanting him to answer, so the older twin said, "Well, last week … on Monday, we were in that big accident out on the highway. Our parents … they were hurt real bad and they were also burned and were taken to the army burn unit hospital down in San Antonio. We, Kyle and me, were also taken to a hospital and they bandaged us up. It wasn't until Friday that Mr. Ken and Robert and Charles came to ask us if we wanted to live with them while our parents recovered. So, that's why we missed all of last week."

It was while Kevin explained why he and his twin weren't in school last week that Nicholas came up to the group. When he heard Mr. Ken's name mentioned, along with Robert's and Charles', he said, "Yeah, I saw you two at the Picnic on Saturday, but nobody told me you were living at Three Finger Cove. That is such an awesome place, and now that you're there you'll get to ride those awesome skateboard ramps as much as you want."

This time Terran made the introductions. "Kevin, Kyle, this is Nicholas. He got the chance to ride the ramps back when they were first built. You might remember him from playing on the rafts during the picnic on Saturday."

"Hi, Nicholas," said Kyle. "Maybe we can invite you back some more. We've only been living with Mr. Ken and our big 'brothers' since Friday night. I don't know what we'll be able to do and who we can invite over, but if Robert and Charles can have a big group of their friends over at the same time, then maybe we can too."

It was then that Sam spoke up and asked the twins, "Robert told us yesterday you guys had to have physicals. Why? You're not playing sports, or are you going to play fall soccer?"

Kyle looked to Kevin to answer, again, so the older twin did. "Well, Mr. Ken told us he needed to have a base line on our medical health so that if anything happens, while we are living with him, he knows if it occurred while we are in his care. He also told us he didn't want to be blindsided by something like juvenile diabetes or us having a bad heart. He told us Collin, Robert and Charles all had their physicals with Doctor Powers, so that is where we went."

"You had to have a physical with Doctor Powers? Did he check your, ah, your pecker and balls?" asked Dominic.

All the boys laughed at Dominic's question. Then Terran asked Dominic when did he ever have to have a physical. Dominic told the group he heard James talking to one of the other boys over at The Cove about how he and Charles got their physicals at the same time. Dom told his friends how James told the other boy that they had to drop their pants and underwear and that Doctor Powers put on some gloves and had to check their dicks and balls. Then, he told how he heard James say he got a boner when the doctor checked his dick. All the boys laughed knowing all about boners themselves.

It was then the first bell rang. Their new friends told Kevin and Kyle it was time for them to go to their classrooms and to follow them. When the lads arrived at the 6th grade classrooms, Sam asked the twins if they knew which room they would be in. The twins said they weren't sure but they knew they were in separate rooms, so they would each pick one. So, they did.

The teacher, a Ms. Lillian James, asked the class to settle down as she wanted to introduce a new student to them. She said she saw the new student had already met a few of their classmates but she wanted to formally welcome them to the class.

"Will Kevin Parchsons please stand up and tell us something about you?" asked Ms. James, their 6th Grade teacher.

Kevin didn't stand up because sitting there in the classroom was Kyle and he didn't know what he should do.

Over in the other 6th Grade classroom, at about the same time, Ms. Charlene Kirklunds, also got her class settled down and told the students they had a new student.

"Will Kyle Parchsons please stand up and introduce yourself and tell us something about you?" said Ms. Kirklunds.

Kyle didn't stand up because sitting there in that classroom was actually Kevin and he wasn't sure what he should do.

When neither Kevin nor Kyle stood up in their respective classroom, each teachers began to get upset. They then both demanded their student stand up and identify themselves to the class.

In neither classroom did Kevin or Kyle stand up. They both were afraid they'd get in trouble on their first day of school and they didn't want Mr. Ken to have to come there because they knew he was going to be busy out at the construction site.

Lucky for Kevin it was Sam who was in the classroom with him and knew that the twins must have entered the wrong room. Knowing it was going to sound a bit strange and it could get him into trouble he raised his hand.

"Ms. Kirklunds," spoke up Sam, as he waved his hand and arm in the air.

Over in Ms. James' classroom, when Kyle didn't stand up, Wyatt figured out that the twins had gone into the wrong classroom. He knew he needed to say something but he wasn't too sure if his teacher would believe him. But he figured it wouldn't hurt either.

"Ms. James," spoke up Wyatt, "I think I know what has happened here."

"What do you mean you know what had happened here?" a very irritated Lillian James almost yelled.

"Ms. James … you see Kyle … he has an identical twin and my bet is they got their classroom assignments mixed up. … Kevin … please stand up," said Wyatt.

Over in Ms. Kirklunds classroom, it was Sam who stood up and told Charlene Kirklunds the same story. He then asked Kyle to stand up.

Both upset teachers told their 'wrong' student to follow them out into the hallway at virtually the same time hoping they could straighten things out. It was when the women looked at their fellow teacher and saw how identical both boys were they burst out laughing. The four settled down and talked about the twins mix up and how they got their classroom assignments screwed up. After a few minutes went by, their loud talking caused another teacher along that hallway to notify the front office which then brought Principal Chadwick to investigate what the commotion was all about.

When she approached the small group, she saw the twins were in the midst of them and figured that was what all the disturbance was about.

"Oh, I see you've met the twins, Kevin and Kyle," said Abigail Chadwick, as she approached the foursome.

"So, you knew there were extremely identical twins coming to our school and you didn't tell us?" laughed Lillian.

"These two are adorable and too identical. We need to make them wear something that will help us distinguish one from the other," piped up Charlene.

"I'm sorry ladies for not warning you but yesterday was a day-of-days for me. I had to interview over a dozen kids and … well, that doesn't excuse me from not warning you or at least bringing them by to meet you. But, Mr. Ken …," was all Principal Chadwick got out before Lillian spoke up.

"You mean to tell us Mr. Ken Thomas, that single man, who owns Three Finger Cove has two more boys … in this school? Heaven help us!" uttered an astonished but smiling Ms. James.

"Yes, he does Lillian, but that shouldn't matter to you. He might be a foster parent, but he is a parent, nonetheless, who takes seriously his charter as the boy's foster parent and will do whatever he feels is necessary to protect his charges. You treat his boys with all the care and concern every teacher has for all their other students and you have nothing to worry about," explained the principal.

"OK, now … which one is Kevin?" directly asked Ms. Chadwick.

Kevin raised his hand.

"Then you must be Kyle?" said Ms. Chadwick, as she pointed to the remaining lad.

To the teachers, Principal Chadwick said, "Mr. Thomas warned me that these two might try to confuse matters if you let them. He says there is a definite way to identify one from the other but he never told me how. Ladies … it will be your job to figure that out so they don't wind up taking each other's tests. Kyle says he is the smarter of the two, so you can see why I warn you now.

"Boys … I will warn you this ONLY once … and that is you better NOT try to confuse your teachers as to who you are. You read me? (Both lads nodded.) If you do, Mr. Ken WILL be called to come to the school and deal with you after I have dealt with you, myself. You understand what I am saying? (Again, both lads nodded.)

"Now … tell your teachers how they can tell you apart," Principal Chadwick directed the twins.

The lads looked to one another and Kyle deferred to his older brother Kevin to tell the women. It was then that Kevin told the three women that most of their friends can tell them apart, but he supposed his teacher wanted to know, too. Kevin hemmed and hawed for a few moments when Kyle spoke up and told the women this it was his left ear that stuck out more than his right and then faced the ladies face-on so they could see for themselves. Then the twins stood side-by-side so the women could see for themselves what the only discernible visible difference was between them.

Principal Chadwick thanked the twins for their honesty, and she told them she looked forward to seeing what they could offer their classmates and their school. She then walked off, presumably, back to her office.

The 6th grade teachers took one last look to double check what they saw as the difference between the lads, and then took the correct twin into their classroom. Each teacher introduced the right twin to the class, but they didn't explain to the class how they could identify one from the other. The twin was then asked to tell something about themselves, so they each told the class about the accident and how they got to live with 'Dad Ken'. The rest of the morning went smoothly for the twins as they got caught up on what they missed the previous week.

The talk amongst the 7th grade class that morning was the punishment Leah Hoalmes received for saying what she did to Charles and Richard the previous day before the start of school. Of course the administration, because of privacy requirements, didn't broadcast what the infraction was or what sentence the young girl received, but that didn't keep the twelve year old girl from telling all her friends who told other friends.

Leah told her friends Principal Chadwick gave her a 3-day in-school suspension that she could begin to serve that day, or she could request her parents be brought in and the suspension would be served the following week. Leah then told her four friends she opted to have her parents come in and have a 'talk' to their principal. All the girls laughed knowing Mr. & Mrs. Hoalmes always got what they wanted and Leah wouldn't have to serve her suspension or, at the least, she'd get a letter like the rest of them did.

During lunch, Leah made sure she went by the table Charles and Richard were sitting at. She leered at them as she passed by and whispered to them she meant what she said. After she'd gone, the rest of the lads told Charles and Richard they heard what she said and that they had their backs.

Kevin and Kyle used their lunch break to get to know their new friends. Nicholas told them about how he was one of the lucky ones to try out the new skateboard ramps at a Memorial Day picnic and that he also got the chance to swim in the indoor pool and that he got to spend the night, too.

Andrew then spoke up and told Kevin and Kyle he was also invited to that same Memorial Day Picnic that Mr. Ken held in order to thank the carpenter guys who helped build the ramps a few weeks earlier. Andy told the guys he had a blast riding the brand new skateboard ramps because they were so smooth. The youngster also said that when Mr. Ken told them they could spend the night he was over the moon about it. The eleven year old then told the group about swimming in the indoor pool and Mr. Ken buying a bunch of different pizzas for them to eat, but they had to wait until 10 PM before they could swim again.

Andy told the twins there had to be more than a dozen kids there that night and they all slept in the Theater. Then, he whispered how when they all got up in the morning they all had boners, even the older boys. That made the group laugh and want to ask questions about the sleepover but the first bell after lunch rang, so he didn't get to answer any of his friend's questions.

Along the way back to their classroom, Nicholas nudged Andy and told him he was glad he didn't mention anything about skinny dipping. Andy replied he remembered that they were asked not to talk to anyone about doing that so he knew not to mention it. Nicholas smiled as they went into different rooms.

As soon as they got off the school bus, the four Cover lads all headed to the Kitchen Nook for their after school snack. Momma Maria had cold milk and hot chocolate chip cookies waiting for them. Kevin and Kyle were amazed that they could get such a good snack compared to the Kool-Aid water and store bought cookies their mom served them every once in awhile.

Snack over, the lads all headed to the Study to talk to 'Dad Ken'. The man heard the gaggle of boys coming as they were not very quiet in their talking amongst themselves about their day at school.

"'Dad Ken'," called out Kyle, as he entered the Study, "we met a bunch of new kids at school today and two of them had already been here and they even spent the night."

"Tell me more," replied Mr. Ken.

It was Robert who answered his 'dad' by reminding him that Nicholas and Andrew were the two boys Sam and Terran had invited when he held the Thank You Bar-be-que picnic for all the men who helped build the ramps.

"Oh, yeah, I sort of remember those two boys. They sure were quiet around me. Wasn't Nicholas here for the Labor Day picnic?" relayed 'Dad Ken'.

"'Daaad' … all the boys are quiet around you. They don't know you and they are afraid of you because of who you are. All the kids know what you did after the storm and that you took a bullet for my brother, Collin. They look up at you as a role model, so they don't know how to talk to you or act around you," explained Robert.

That was the first time the twins ever heard about a storm, so Kyle spoke up and asked 'Dad Ken' to explain what he did that the kids all look up to him.

'Dad Ken' sat back in his chair, behind his big desk, and then told the boys about the storm that the weathermen called a Hundred Year Storm. He told how the rain and wind was something he'd never seen before and hoped he never would again. He told how the majority of the roads were all blocked due to debris or high water.

"But why did they call it a Hundred Year storm, 'dad'?" asked Kyle.

Mr. Ken smiled at the 'dad' comment and told the twins that it was a storm that came around once every one hundred years, but in reality might come as often as twenty years or even fifty years but whenever it came it brought high winds, tons of rain, and lots of destruction.

It was right then that Momma Maria came to the Study to tell the Covers that dinner was ready and for them to wash their hands and face and come to the Kitchen Nook.

After eating a hearty meal, the Covers retired back to the Study where Kyle asked, "Can you tell us if The Cove had any damage because of the storm?"

"No, 'son' The Cove was sturdily built and was almost brand new when that storm came through. Chief and I checked the entire house, didn't we girl, a few times checking for leaks or broken windows and I was lucky. Many people lost not only windows, but roofs as well," replied 'Dad Ken'.

"What did you do after the storm that everybody looks up to you, 'dad'?" now asked Kevin.

'Dad Ken' smiled again at the use of the term 'dad' and then said, "Well, after the storm, the governor called me up and asked me to be a part of the recovery team. Little did I know that I would be made the primary go-to man for my section of the county. What I did was make sure that everyone was treated as equal. To me it didn't matter if you lived in an expensive part of the county or a poor part; I wanted to make sure they each got taken care of.

"What happened was that the poorer parts saw they got their streets and storm debris cleaned up just as soon as everyone else in the county. I also made it imperative that we got shelters up and running before the richer parts because the poor didn't have the wherewithal to do it for themselves," finished Mr. Ken.

"'Daaad', you left out the best part," spoke up Robert. "You didn't tell Kevin and Kyle about how you saved Collin!"

"Collin? The boy you took the bullet for?" asked Kyle.

"Yes … Collin was the lad that the men were after the day after Thanksgiving and … I didn't take a bullet for him. I just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and the rogue FBI agent fired and found me. That was how I was shot. Collin was safely tucked away elsewhere in the house," answered Mr. Ken.

"'Dad', tell them how you saved Collin on the night of the storm," pleaded Robert.

Mr. Ken told the story of how Chief found Collin out on the patio and how they brought him in and cared for him. Robert then pestered his 'dad' to tell the twins about Doctor Powers coming over in the middle of the storm to do surgery. That last comment made the twins look at one another and then ask 'Dad Ken' to tell them more.

Mr. Ken looked at the time and asked the boys if they had their homework done. Robert and Charles said they hadn't even started it yet, while Kevin and Kyle said they had some reading they needed to do before bedtime.

It was then that 'Dad Ken' went into parent mode and told the four lads he'd finish his story if and when they ALL had their homework done. He said if he didn't get to finish it that night he would finish the following day before dinner. The lads all moaned, but knew they needed to get their lessons done before they went to bed. It was Robert who then went over and hugged his 'dad', quickly followed by Charles.

Kevin and Kyle looked at the man with uncertain but hopeful eyes. 'Dad Ken' saw the tentative look in their eyes and immediately opened his arms wide for them. They both sprang to him for the welcomed hug.

Mr. Ken didn't get to finish his story that night. The older lads had quite a bit more homework than they originally thought and the twins had a lot of reading to do in order to get caught up with their peers.

Every Cover slept very well that night; even Kevin who had that terrible dream the night before.
