As the SS Sooloo encounters alien races and planets, the information about them will be entered here, as well as in the chapters. This is a continuation of the Galactipedia. Rather than having to go back to Book One for the planets, and aliens encountered in the previous Chapter, everything from there has been included here.
Draconians were first mentioned during Jace's physical in Chapter One. While they do exist on Earth, as a race, they have not been encountered for almost two hundred years. They have lived among Humans, unnoticed, for the most part.
The Draconians and Lizons share a common ancestry... dragons in humanoid form. They had lost the ability to transform back into dragons over twenty millennia ago. Some characteristics still exist, such as breathing fire, among those who are pure blood Draconian, but many of them have diminished or disappeared with half-bred offsprings.
Draconia is a monarchy. The DaarDaar (" Daar is Draconian for King. ") has the awesome responsibility of choosing what is best for his people. Prior to his death, he selects his successor. Normally, it is his eldest son, however, he has the right to choose any other Draconian. Should he die before selecting, it automatically passes to his eldest son. The current Daar is Daar Zedrick Darastrix .
The inhabitants are humanoids with a very high concentration of iron in their blood cells. Their bodies are very dense; thus, they weigh twice that of an identical-sized earthling. Their skin is almost like that of an exoskeleton. The average male can bench 800-1000 lbs. They pride themselves, though, on their wisdom and longevity (the average pure blood Draconian lives 1000 -1200 yrs.). The full Draconian has complete and tremendous telepathic abilities, which starts developing around their thirteenth birthday, and some are said to breath flames at their enemies as did their ancestors. The latter has been observed only a few times in the last 200 years. Half-breeds are diminished, though only slightly, on their telepathic abilities in comparison, and usually don't start developing it until around their sixteenth birthday...
At the age of thirteen, the Draconian is considered an adult and may marry, however, they may not join the military until they are nineteen.
Prior to the Draconian-Lizon war, Draconians used to travel to and from earth, frequently. They mainly visited Terran Japan, thus have many similarities to the Japanese Culture. Shinobi Martial Arts, martial art weaponry, and oriental cuisine are just a few.
Most Draconians have dark brown to jet black hair and a variation of blue eyes. Draconian's eyes do, however, glow red as they get angry. Due to the high concentration of iron, they have a slight (almost undetectable) blue tint to their skin. The full-grown male stands an average of 5'8" - 6'3" tall.
Prior to the Draconian-Lizon war, there were three nations on Draconia.
For the emblem used, each realm was being represented, hence three stripes, and three sections of the circle. When the fighting with the Lizons started, the two minor nations joined the dominate realm, creating one nation. The war lasted thirty years and all three nations were happy with being one nation.
For the flag, the Draconians used three colors for their stripes to depict and honor these former nations, and they went with 10 stripes in the three colors to represent the thirty years of fighting. They considered using 30 smaller stripes but didn’t like the look. The dragon represents their ancestry. King Zedrick’s father was King at the time this flag was made official.
Education:
Draconians learn in their homes. They sit at a console being instructed by the teacher for their class. The Sessions run from the tenth month to the eighth, giving one month for the older students to help harvest. Education begins at the age of four and is completed at the end of the session following their thirteenth birthday. Classes run from the sixth hour to thirteenth with an hour for lunch during the ninth to tenth hours.
Clothing:
Traditional: Kimonos are traditionally worn for formal or ceremonial purposes. The Royal Family are rarely seen without their kimono.
Non-Traditional: Shirts and slacks similar to those worn on Terra during its late 19th century are worn for everyday wear.
Undergarments:
Draconian Male Undergarments |
Draconian Female Undergarments |
Military or Guard Structure:
Gensui - Fleet Admiral - Military Only - Position held by the Princes when they are in the military. If more than one Prince is in the military, it is the oldest.
Gunbaisha - Admiral - Military Only - Position held by other Princes when they are in the military if more than one is.
Meagear - Commander - Highest ranking officer that is not a prince.
Shikikan - Lt Commander
Hosayaku - Lieutenant
Shoui - Ensign - Lowest Ranking Officer in the Draconian Military
Gunsotsu - Non-Officer Military Personnel
The planet Sinocard was home to a race of humanoids that had reached space several centuries ago. Sinocard is a Class M+ Forest Planet with a Sub-Classification of a Swamp Planet. The major sentient species on Sinocard is a humanoid-reptilian based species called the Sinocardians. The gravity on Sinocard is 125% of Terra; combine this with the fact that the Sinocardians muscles were developed in water compared to air, the gravity difference is closer to 150%.
The Sincoardians started life as a crocodilian analog the Carnifex sinocardinus, similar to the Terran Carnufex carolinensis, that walked on its rear legs. The Carnifex sinocardinus was built more for land then water but its long tail still gave it plenty of speed in the water. Carnifex sinocardinus' prey wasn't safe in water or on land. The Carnifex sinocardinus averaged nine feet in length. Over the centuries, the Carnifex sinocardinus evolved into the hominoid Sinocardians of today, the Carnifex Homonidus sinocardinus. The evolution started with the lengthening of the forelegs and then that of the rear legs. Eventually, the trunk and tail were shortened; the tail continued to shrink until it was just a nub. As the Sinocardians' evolution continued, the snout shrunk until it was barely visible.
The most rapid changes occurred once the Sinocardians became mostly land-bound, however. Locomotion on land required massive changes to their rear legs and center of gravity. Movement on land was the main reason for the disappearance of their tail.
Over the centuries, the forelegs developed into arms and the front webbed feet developed into hands and eventually an opposed thumb developed. As a Crocodilian analog, there are slight differences in physiognomy. The claws shrunk and became retractable. The webbing between the fingers and toes remained but only became visible when a hand was fully splayed open.
The Sinocardians remained hunter-gatherers while relying on other species for any food they were unable to acquire. Although the Sinocardians can be classified as omnivores they are actually facultative carnivores. Although facultative carnivores can eat grains and vegetables as well, they prefer a meat diet. Sinocardians prefer a diet rich in organ meat, however, they eventually developed a synthetic supplement for voyages where fresh meat was hard to store or find.
As the Sinocardians adjusted to living on land, they didn't stray too far from a source of water for swimming. Their scutes scutes ("A scute or scutum (Latin scutum, plural: scuta "shield") is a bony external plate or scale overlaid with horn, as on the shell of a turtle, the skin of crocodilians, and the feet of birds. ") became much thinner and very flexible. They also worked as a moisture barrier preventing Sinocardians from dehydrating during normal tasks of living. Some of the scutes on Sinocardians' heads evolved into a different form of keratin and formed a fairly stiff ruff of hair that covered the scalp from the forehead to the rear neck ridge.
The Sinocardians developed the physical sciences rapidly with the discovery of ancient ruins and devices found in the interior of the planet. One of the things that they found was the part of a spacecraft. It still took several centuries before the Sinocardians were able to develop spaceflight which brings us up to several years ago.
As their spaceflight abilities developed, the Sinocardians sent out both manned and unmanned probes. The manned probes mainly investigated the planets near Sinocard, while the unmanned probe explored a far wider range. Over the centuries the probes, both manned and unmanned, discovered several habitable planets and several other space-going species. By a strange coincidence, several of the unmanned probes were sent to the vicinity of what we know as Terra. The probes sent petabytes of data back to Sinocard utilizing the faster than light communication protocol developed by the Sinocardians based on some alien descriptions. Over the years, the Sinocardians amassed exabytes of data regarding Terra. The Sinocardians were perplexed that the Terran versions of crocodilians were still water bound and non-sentient. They decided to send an Ambassador to Terra one of their youngest and brightest to try and discover why.
The Sinocardians used two different methods of propulsion for their ships. They used a type of Reactionless Drive called the 'S' Drive and a Fold-Space Drive called the 'FSD'. Unfortunately, in order to use the FSD, the Sinocardians needed extremely accurate coordinates to travel fold-space. This basically meant that they could only use the 'FSD' to travel to places they had already been. While the 'FSD' could be used for very short intra-system hops it was a waste of energy. The 'S' Drive was approximately twenty-five to thirty percent faster than comparable Reactionless Drives. Their ships were also equipped with reaction type thrusters for increased maneuverability when docking.
Not much can be said about the Lizons that hadn't already been stated under Draconians. The Lizons are a warlike people who lived on the red satellite orbiting Draconia.
When the Sooloo approached Draconia, the Lizons attacked and almost destroyed the Sooloo. Fortunately, the Draconians came to their rescue.
The next day, the Lizons pulled a "surprise" attack, which the Draconians were prepared for, thanks to an ancient prophecy. With their race nearly wiped out, King Zedrick offered the Lizons mercy. Some stayed on Draconia while others were sent to a distant planet to rebuild their race.
The SS Sooloo and Endurance explored two of the three continents. Though scans didn't detect any life signs, it was discovered that the planet WAS inhabited. The inhabitants are descendants from humans abducted in November of the year 1930 (on Earth).
The inhabitant came from different parts of Earth, but the main groups were Norwegians (who settled in the Northernmost Continent), Canadians (who settled in the other Northern Continent) and Americans (who settled in the Southern Continent). The other abductees joined whichever group they felt more comfortable with
According to the President of the Southern Continent, the Northern Continents went away from technology while the Southern Continent researched and explored the technology left by their abductors.
A member of the Endurance Crew caused an issue with the inhabitants of the Norwegian descendants and the captains from both ships, along with some crew members, had to repair the damage. Read Chapters Eighteen through Twenty -Three to find out more.
Draconia is the first planet from Alpha Draconis (its star). According to their historical records, Draconia formed over 5 billion years ago. Radius: 3,959 mi |
Draconia, "also known as the Dragon Planet" is found in the constellation known on Earth as "Draco the Dragon". As given above, it is the first planet from their blue star, approximately 146M Km (or 90720194.07 miles) away.
The red satellite not too far away was an inhabited moon named Liza. The inhabitants supposedly became extinct during the Draconian-Lizon War during Earth's late 19th century - early 20th century. It has been discovered that a few survived and escaped.
Since the war left Liza totally devastated and void of life, the moon was converted into a shipyard by the Draconians. Draconium mined from the moon is being refined and used.
Weather:
The planet's average temperature is a constant 40° Celsius (104° Fahrenheit). The atmosphere has almost a 5% Sulfuric rating. 80% of the planet surface is covered by water.

Year: The planet Draconia takes 330 days to orbit Alpha Draconis. There are twelve months in the year, odd-numbered months having twenty-eight days, and even-numbered having twenty-seven. There are forty-Two weeks a year consisting of eight days a week. The last three days are rest days except for those who work in fields requiring attendance. Those that work the last three days generally get the first three days off. Days can vary, but everyone gets three days in a row of rest during the week.
Seasons: Draconia has two seasons…
Hashu - planting season, this season is cooler with a mist filled air
Dekiaki – harvest season, a dryer, warmer season. Crops are ready for harvest about the middle of the season but continue to grow until the end.
Days: There are twenty hours in a Draconian Day, thus twenty time-zones, though the Draconians may not refer to them as time zones. The Castle, or Center of Government, is in the Mean Time Zone.
Kairu is the first planet for Megrez, the crew of the Sooloo were instrumental in creating the planet. There is very little known about this planet, being it is a new planet.
