Cotton is the new kid in town on the first day of high school. He is an old hand at that, though, because he has already moved eight times in his life. With every new location, there is a time for adjustment. Unfortunately, the move isn't the only thing he has to adjust to this time. Cotton is growing up and noticing people in ways he never thought of before. What is going on with him, and how will it affect his life in yet another new town?
